Ingredients
  • 500g beef sausage meat
  • 1 onion finely diced
  • 1 tsp dried herbs
  • ¾ cup breadcrumbs
  • Pinch of salt & pepper
  • 1 egg beaten
  • 2 sheets puff pastry
  • Optional:
  • Sesame seeds, poppy seeds or herbs

Sausage Rolls

Method
  • Preheat oven to 180c.
  • Place the pastry sheets out to thaw.
  • In a large bowl, add the sausage mince, onion, herbs, breadcrumbs and egg.
  • Mix the ingredients together with a wooden spoon, making sure the mixture is well combined.
  • Cut the pastry sheets in half.
  • Divide the mince into four portions.
  • Shape each portion into a log on the long side of the pastry rectangle.
  • Brush the edges with water using a pastry brush.
  • Roll the pastry over the log and press the edges together to seal, leaving the seam side down.
  • Cut the sausage logs to four equal lengths, or cut in half if you want full size rolls.
  • If you are looking to make bite size rolls for that special occassion, cut them into eight pieces making them ideal mini rolls.
  • Make slits on the top of the rolls.
  • Brush with the egg wash.
  • Optional:
  • You can sprinkle with sesame seeds, poppy seeds or herbs.
  • Bake in the oven for 25 minutes or until they are a nice golden brown colour.

  • You can freeze them for up to 3 months
